Business on The Web
Australian businesses using the Internet and web sites has plateaued off a bit lately. The ABS survey of 'Business Use of Information Technology' released this week shows businesses using the Internet increased from 71% to 74% from 2003 to 2004 after increasing from 56% to 71% from 2000 to 2003. Businesses with their own website remain at a relatively low level at 25% in 2004, up 2% from 2003.
For bigger businesses (100 or more people) broadband is the most popular connection at 78%, while for small businesses (0 to 4 people) the majority by a slim margin (54%) still use dial-up.
