Family Budget hits $1,000pw
The March Quarter CPI was released yesterday which shows price inflation steady at 0.7% for the quarter and 2.4%pa for the year. FinDem uses a Family Budget figure as a base for the price indicator series back to 1901. The base figure is $817.20 per week in March quuarter 1997 and comes from a study by SPRC from UNSW of Modest But Adequate(MBA)living cost for a couple with two children. The index with the latest CPI increase at March 2005 is $1000.30 per week.
