Small may be Beautiful again
America may finally get the message - better to cut back on fuel consumption than occupy countries where people happen to live on top of remaining oil reserves. Pump prices for fuel are now starting to cause pain when big yank tanks get filled up in the big state of Texas (see http://www.gasbuddy.com/). Texans in Dallas are now paying US$2.60 a gallon (still only about A$0.91 a litre compared to Aussies now paying A$1.25). But what hurts is that it was only US$1.50 a gallon a year and a half ago.
In the same week Australia's leading large car maker Holden laid of 1,800 employees as sales dropped. The weekend papers have articles on the best small cars.
