Feeling Good?
According to the ABS National Health Survey 2004-05 released this week, 27.8% of Australians feel 'Good'. The other categories of self assessed health are Fair/Poor at 15.9%, Very Good at 35.3% and Excellent at 20.9%. Women are feeling a bit better than men (57.5% Very Good or Excellent vs 54.9% for men).
The results are split into four age groups with predictable decline in feel-good by age (30.9% of 15-24 year olds feel Excellent which declines to 10.9% for the 65 and overs). Just over 3 million people have a bad back, 3.2 million have hay fever, 5.3 million are long sighted and 4.4 million short sighted. 11.5% of children have asthma.
