Earthy Australians of the Year
Professor Timothy Fridtjof Flannery has been named Australian of the year for 2007 on Australia Day, 26th January. Tim is turns 51 next Monday and is close to the average age of past awardees of 49.5. Like the namesake of Tim's middle name, Norwegian explorer Fridtjof Nansen,(http://www.mnc.net/norway/Nansen.htm) Tim Flannery is one of the world's leading writer-scientists and thinkers and an internationally acclaimed explorer and environmentalist. Tim is very active in writing books and advising and lobbying about the predicament faced by humans and the planet Earth. Tim's award brings to 5, the number of the 51 Australians of the Year http://www.australianoftheyear.gov.au/ to date who have come from people involved with environmental issues.
