2.5m Australians not Voting
The Australian Electoral Commission this week released details of the age profile of Australians registered to vote when roles closed for the 2007 federal election. The total is 13.6 million which FinDem estimates is 2.5 million less than the Australian population aged 18 and over. Highest percentages of non-voters are 18 year olds at 28% and it's above 20% all the way up to age 34. The age table of voters and details of who can vote can be found at http://www.aec.gov.au/About_AEC/Media_releases/10_25.htm Findem has added a miscellaneous chart in the Research Centre with all the percentages by age group.
