Volunteering Census Results
In the 2006 Census, a question was included for the first time on volunatry activities of the population. The question asked was 'In the last twelve months did the person spend any time doing voluntary work through an organisation or group?'. The results show that for all age groups 17.4% of males are volunteers and 22% of females. Peak age groups are 65-74 for males (21.2%) and 35-44 for females (26.5%).
